The Eighth Time is a space for guided tea ceremonies held in small, intimate groups. As we enter the circle, we begin descending into a gradual pause from the noise embedded in our schedules — much like gradually silencing the internal momentum of an overnight train journey — allowing our bodies to ease into the familiarity of herbs. By the time we make contact with the tea — the boiling water, the herbs, the pestle and mortar, the warm kettle — we have cultivated presence as a natural consequence, as something that has quietly become a part of us. From here, a different kind of communication with the herbs can begin. We fondly refer to this as Le Silence — an opportunity to experience the perfection of life at each moment, in any chosen form.

That being said, we now speak directly to you. There is no way for us but through these written words to tell you that much as the thought of tea stirs your heart, the tea too awaits to meet you in the ceremony — perhaps only more eagerly, but also donning the robe of quiet trust and patience that you will arrive at its doors when the time is opportune. The making of that time is, then, at your behest.

Why? Because the tea is shaped not only by the herbs and water, nor perhaps only by the art of the master of ceremony, but through the unique intermingling of each life at the ceremony with the herbs.
